    Hi Everyone.
    If someone qualifies for the 100% disabled veteran exemption, do you give that to them ON TOP OF the regular veteran exemption?

    Jen,
    Yes, We stack our exemptions in Newport.
    In fact, you would need to qualify for the Veteran’s exemption in order to get the 100% disabled.

    Yes. They are separate exemptions.

    Our ordinance is written to be in addition to the veteran’s exemption.

    Per Rhode Island General Law 44-3-4(c)

    In addition to the previously provided exemptions, any veteran of the military or naval service of the United States who is determined, under applicable federal law by the Veterans’ Administration of the United States to be totally disabled through service-connected disability may, by ordinance, passed in the city or town where the veteran’s property is assessed,
